The information we collect

When you send us an enquiry

When you fill in a quote or contact form on this website, we collect:

  • your name, phone number and email address
  • the first line of your address and your postcode
  • the type of property and the service you are interested in
  • any details you choose to give us about the job

Alongside your enquiry we also record which page you sent it from, the page you first arrived on, the website that referred you, and any advertising campaign tags in the web address (for example, if you clicked on one of our adverts). This helps us understand which of our marketing is working.

When you call, email or message us

We keep the details you give us so we can deal with your enquiry, arrange a survey and provide a quotation.

When you visit the website

If you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics to collect information about how visitors use the website, such as the pages viewed, how long people stay, the type of device and browser used, and the general area (town or region) people visit from. This information does not tell us who you are. See “Cookies” below.

How we use your information

  • To reply to your enquiry, arrange a survey and prepare a quotation
  • To carry out and manage the work if you go ahead, including certification, guarantees and aftercare
  • To keep proper business and accounting records
  • To understand how people use our website and which marketing brings in enquiries, so we can improve both

We will not send you marketing emails or messages unless you have asked us to, and we will never sell your personal information.

Our lawful reasons for using your information

  • Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing a contract – to respond to your enquiry, quote for and carry out your work.
  • Legal obligation – to keep records we are required by law to keep, such as accounting and electrical certification records.
  • Legitimate interests – to keep records of enquiries and to understand which of our marketing is working.
  • Consent – for Google Analytics cookies. You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.

Who we share your information with

We only share your information where it is needed to run our business or provide our services:

  • our website hosting and email providers, who store the information for us
  • Google, which provides Google Analytics (only if you accept cookies)
  • scheme providers and regulators where the law or our registrations require it, for example notifying electrical work to building control through our registration scheme
  • our accountants and professional advisers

Finance: if you choose to apply for finance, you apply directly with Ideal4Finance (Ideal Sales Solutions Ltd). Your application is handled under their own privacy policy, which you will see when you apply. We only pass your details to Ideal4Finance if you ask us to.

Some of these providers, including Google, may store information outside the UK. Where this happens, they use legally recognised safeguards to protect it.

How long we keep your information

  • Enquiries that don’t go ahead: up to 2 years from your last contact with us, then deleted.
  • Customers: 6 years after the work is finished, to meet our legal and accounting obligations. Certification records may be kept for longer where the law or our registration scheme requires it.
  • Google Analytics: up to 14 months.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. When you first visit, we ask whether you are happy for us to use analytics cookies. Nothing is tracked unless you click “Accept”.

  • Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) – only set if you click “Accept”. They help us count visitors and see how the website is used. They last up to 2 years.
  • Your cookie choice – we save your Accept or Reject choice on your device so we don’t ask you every time. This is not used to track you.

You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page, or by clearing cookies in your browser settings.

Keeping your information secure

We take sensible steps to protect your information, including a secure (HTTPS) website, password-protected systems and restricting access to people who need it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong
  • ask us to delete your information, where we no longer need to keep it
  • object to, or ask us to limit, how we use your information
  • withdraw your consent to cookies at any time

To use any of these rights, email info@peselectrical.co.uk or call 01772 724003. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
