Safe escape when the lights go out
If the normal lighting supply fails, whether through a power cut, a fault or an emergency, occupied buildings must have suitable emergency lighting so people can leave safely. Types of emergency lighting
- Escape route lighting – lights the way along corridors, stairs and exits.
- Open area (anti-panic) lighting – helps people reach an escape route in larger spaces.
- High-risk task area lighting – allows dangerous processes to be shut down safely.
- Standby lighting – lets normal activities carry on where needed.
Installation, testing and certification
We install emergency lighting to the relevant British Standard (BS 5266), test it and provide certification. We can also carry out routine testing as part of a maintenance plan, so your logbook is always up to date.
